Necton Festival 2023

Well, what a festival that was.  A great crowd, a great line up of artists, great food and a great atmosphere.

RockaVox rock choir kicked off the festival with some excellent renditions of classic rock and pop numbers, then Norfolk based band  5 Day Rain led by Chris Manley treated us to some serious country rock.  In third spot were local heroes Cockney Jock who really got the crowd whipped up with some really great rock numbers covering everything from the Stereophonics to Iron Maiden.

Next we had Paul Thompson, a singer / songwriter, well known on the East Anglia music scene with a great mix of thought provoking lyrics and beautiful acoustic guitar playing. Paul was followed by Lady & the Tramps, a new local band offering some really cool tunes from the likes of Bonnie Raitte, INXS and The Black Crows among others.

Next up were The Cabin Band, a Suffolk based four piece playing original Americana folk/rock numbers from their recently released album.  They were followed by Stevie Winfield, back for a second appearance.  All the way up from Cornwall, this guitar  virtuoso, amazing the crowd with his 6 string pyrotechnics, really whipped up the atmosphere in readiness for our headline act, The Counterfeit Brits.  These guys really know how to work a crowd with a fantastic mix of 90's Britpop. Blur, Oasis, Pulp...you name it, they played it, and could they play.

All this, coupled with our festival announcer Nigel, a couple of brilliant sound engineers, great food & drinks, great organisation, some nice interaction with our local Police & Fire service, and on site medical & security teams ensured everything ran smoothly. All in all, a great success so, a huge thank you to all the artists, sponsors, helpers and organisers for making it a great day for Necton.
